Are You Eating Until You’re Full or Satisfied?
When going to an all you can eat buffet typically you’ll want to get your money’s worth and will eat until you have to be rolled out of the restaurant. Does this sound familiar? I know this is typical for myself when I go to these restaurants. Doing this once and a while is not the end of the world, however, viewing each meal like this and eating until your overstuffed will have a negative effect on your waistline over time. Essentially you are over consuming your calories going into your system and not burning off an appropriate amount of calories to balance the scales.
Rather than thinking that you will starve until the next time you have a meal and stuffing yourself past max, the challenge should be to eat all your meals until you are satisfied. In conjunction with my previous article about slowing down your eating this will help you from over eating and give you the appropriate signal from your stomach that you are satisfied.
Another suggestion is to eat smaller more frequent meals or even setting specific times you will have your meals. Of course being on duty this is not always possible but try to get yourself prepared prior to your shift or work day. Try having protein snacks: beef jerky, protein bar, protein shake, nuts etc. Protein will keep you satiated aka satisfied and regularly consuming water will avoid over eating/snacking.
